About Neural DSP

Neural DSP is developing technology to advance the state of the art in the music industry. Our team has grown from under 10 to around 170 people in under a decade, and we continue to expand from our headquarters and factory in Helsinki.

We work across electronics engineering, digital signal processing, embedded systems, machine learning, and UI/UX design. Our mission is to design the next generation of audio software and hardware and empower musicians' creativity to expand alongside technology.

Our products are used by musicians at every level. We have built signature plugins and hardware in close collaboration with John Mayer, John Petrucci, Gojira, Tim Henson, and Cory Wong, among others. These collaborations are developed from scratch alongside the artists, meticulously crafted to replicate their exact rigs and signal chains with total accuracy.

The role

We're hiring a data engineering intern to join our data team for 3–6 months. You'll be working within our Data Engineering team, on a live dashboard improvement project. This is an engineering role: data pipelines, database design, and backend/frontend integration. No data analysis involved.

What you'll work on:

• Onboard into our existing codebase with smaller scoped tasks to get familiar with how we work

• Take ownership of a concrete workstream in our data dashboard improvement project, most likely one of:

  • Implementing data fetches and processing for one of our data sources (backend)

  • Building views and dashboard integration for a data source (full stack)

  • Designing dashboard layout features with performance and UX in mind (frontend)

• Design and manage data flows as needed within your workstream

What we're looking for:

• Background in computer science or equivalent practical experience

• Solid Python and MySQL skills (these are non-negotiable)

• Comfortable working in an existing codebase, not just greenfield projects

• Can take ownership of a task and drive it to completion

• Experience with data engineering or dashboarding tools is a plus
