Head of Finance

Location: Helsinki · Full-time · Reports to the COO

We are hiring a Head of Finance to own the finance function at Neural DSP. The company runs on three core processes: hardware manufactured at our own factory in Helsinki, a global plugin business, and a direct-to-consumer webstore, alongside distribution and retail partners worldwide. You will be the person who understands how money moves through all of it.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You lead a team of three finance specialists, supported by an external accounting partner for bookkeeping and statutory processes. Management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, liquidity, and reporting sit with you, and you also have the overall responsibility of Finance. You report directly to the COO and work closely with him on the company's financial steering.

What you will do

• Own management accounting and internal reporting: monthly reporting, margin and profitability analysis across hardware, software, and D2C channels, and the numbers leadership uses to make decisions.

• Prepare and monitor functional budgets with department leads, and run the forecasting cycle for revenue, expenses, cash flow, and liquidity.

• Act as the finance business partner to operations: inventory, COGS, factory cost structure, pricing support, and the unit economics of physical product.

• Lead and develop the finance team of three. The team is early in their careers. You will mentor them, raise the bar on how the function works, and do the day-to-day work alongside them when needed.

• Manage the relationship with our external accounting partner as well as auditors and own the quality of what comes out of it: statutory accounting, closings, and compliance filings.

• Own finance systems and processes (ERP, invoicing, payments, expense tools) and keep improving them as the company grows.

• Drive compliance and audit readiness: clean books, documented processes, and reporting that holds up to external scrutiny.

What we are looking for

• Several years of broad finance experience in a company that makes and sells physical products. Manufacturing background is the best fit; retail or consumer goods with real inventory is the minimum.

• A business controller's core: you read a P&L through the value chain, you understand what drives margin in a product business, and you form a view rather than just reporting the numbers.

• Experience leading or mentoring people, and the willingness to stay hands-on. This role has no layer between you and the work.

• Comfort operating with an outsourced accounting setup: you know what to demand from a partner and what to keep in-house.

• Familiarity with the Finnish statutory and reporting environment. Fluent English is required; professional working proficiency in Finnish is a strong advantage given Finnish-language statutory reporting.

• Experience of ERP implementations.

• A problem solver. Our finance function spans a factory floor in Vallila, a global webstore, software licensing, and multiple entities and currencies. Ambiguity is part of the job.

Useful but not required

• Experience with D2C ecommerce economics (Shopify or similar), payment providers, and multi-currency sales.

• Experience preparing a company for external audits or heavier reporting requirements.
